Tiramisu
Ingredients
- 2 packages Savoiardi (ladyfinger) cookies
- 500 grams Mascarpone cheese
- 250 grams Heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup Cold espresso
- 1/4 cup Coffee liqueur or brandy
- 5 tablespoons Powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons Cocoa powder
Preparation
Mix the mascarpone cheese with the powdered sugar.Whip the cream until it forms whipped cream.
Gently fold the whipped cream into the cheese.
Add 2 tablespoons of espresso to the cheese mixture.
In a shallow bowl, mix the espresso with the coffee liqueur or brandy.
Dip the savoiardi briefly in the coffee-liqueur mixture, and arrange a layer in a square dish.
Spread half of the cheese and cream mixture over the layer of savoiardi.
Arrange another layer of savoiardi, and place the rest of the cheese and cream mixture on top.
Sift cocoa powder over the top.
Refrigerate for at least one night before serving so all the flavors can soak in.
Notes:
You can replace the savoiardi with a thin sponge cake.
You can replace the espresso with two teaspoons of instant coffee dissolved in a cup of water.
You can replace the cocoa powder with grated bitter chocolate.
You can serve the tiramisu in individual portions in clear cups or bowls.
