Dried Fruit and Nut Roll
Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped dried figs
- 1 cup chopped dried apricot
- 1 cup chopped dried plums
- 1 cup chopped dried dates
- half cup chopped dried papaya
- half cup chopped dried pineapple
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup slivered almonds
- 1 cup chopped hazelnuts
- half cup matzo meal
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 eggs
Preparation
Mix all the ingredients until you get a uniform mixture.Divide the mixture into four.
Lay out a sheet of baking paper, arrange part of the mixture along the bottom half of the baking paper, not all the way to the edge,
fold the baking paper over the mixture and tighten to form a roll.
Roll the ends of the baking paper like wrapping a candy while pressing the mixture.
Make 4 rolls this way.
Bake at 170 degrees for 45 minutes, flipping the rolls after half an hour.
Carefully open the baking paper to release the steam from the pastry.
The roll firms up as it cools, and then it is easier to slice with a sharp serrated knife.
Note: You can use any dried fruit you like, a mixture of five cups. And also any nuts you like, a mixture of three cups.
