Jerusalem Kugel with Egg Noodles
Ingredients
- 400 grams thin egg noodles
- a quarter cup oil
- a quarter cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon fine black pepper
Preparation
Cook 400 grams of thin egg noodles.Cook a quarter cup of oil with a quarter cup of sugar until it becomes caramel, then pour it over the noodles and mix immediately.
Careful, it bubbles when you pour it over the noodles.
Be careful when making the caramel: once the sugar turns golden, remove it from the heat, as the heat of the oil continues to cook the sugar and turns it into caramel.
Mix in a bowl the eggs, a cup of sugar, cinnamon and a teaspoon of black pepper (you can use less black pepper or skip it entirely, since it makes the kugel spicy, for those who don't like spicy food).
Pour the mixture over the noodles and mix well.
Bake at 160 degrees for about an hour and a half, until the kugel turns brown.
You can add grated apples, raisins, sour cherries.
